Spencer Hill Naturally Dyed Yarns is named for one of the many hills in and around Corning, in the Finger Lakes region of New York. If you know your geography, you know that the Finger Lakes were carved out of retreating ice sheets, leaving behind beautiful lakes and rolling hills. I happen to live on the low end of Spencer Hill. Spencer Crest is a nearby nature center, situated at the proper top. I’ve spent many happy hours tromping around its trails in every season, and the leafy lace pattern of this cowl reflects its natural beauty.

Materials: Spencer Hill Naturally Dyed Yarn “Molly” Merino; 218 yards/100g (model made in the color “Greensward”); US 8/5 mm needles (or size needed to achieve gauge); two stitch markers (optional)

Gauge: 16 sts/4” in stockinette stitch. Exact gauge is not crucial to the success of this pattern, but variation may affect the amount of yarn necessary, as well as the finished size.

Finished Size: approx. 6” x 35”

“Molly” Merino is available at www.spencerhillyarn.com
