The name of this crescent scarf comes from the word that inspired the original lace stitch pattern. The positioning of the stitches was based on numbers derived from the word “friend”. The scarf starts with a garter tab and stocking stitch, and then grows into the “Friendship” lace stitch pattern, finishing with a complementary scalloped border.
Pattern tension: One pattern repeat after blocking measures 7/8” high and 2 ¼” wide.
The stitch pattern is given in both charts and written instructions. It is NOT necessary to work from charts in order to make this pattern.

You will need:
525yds (480m) fingering weight yarn
3.25mm (US3) knitting needles
2 stitch markers
Darning needle (for weaving in ends)

You need to be able to: work common increases and decreases, work lace stitch patterns (pattern on both right side and wrong side rows) from either written or charted instructions.
