Ich stricke immer wieder gerne Entrelac. Allerdings fand ich es irgendwie schade, dass die Quadrate immer ‘auf der Spitze’ stehen. Diese Mitts basieren auf einer ungewöhnlichen Entrelac-Konstruktion, die durch eine unsichtbare ‘Naht’ zusammengefügt wird.

Diese Anleitung ist nicht als erstes Entrelac-Projekt geeignet. Das Grundprinzip wird vorausgesetzt oder es ist zumindest hilfreich mindestens einmal ein ‘normales’ Entrelac-Stück gestrickt zu haben.

Ihr bekommt in dieser Anleitung

• Eine verständliche Einführung in die Konstruktion, so dass ihr auch selbst Anpassungen vornehmen könnt,

Größen
Rechnerisch ergibt sich für Größe M ein Umfang von 18 cm im ungedehnten Zustand, für Größe L sind es etwa 21 cm. Mein Handgelenksumfang beträgt 18 cm, die M-Variante liegt bei mir also eher eng an (nicht unbequem), die L eher locker. Ich empfehle für kleinere und mittlere Hände Größe M, es sei denn ihr möchtet, dass sie eher locker sitzen. Kräftigere Hände sollten zu L greifen.
Variante L ist zudem am Arm etwas kürzer (ca 21 cm ohne Bündchen; M = 23cm) – das ermöglicht auch ein weiteres (nach Wunsch auch längeres) Bündchen zu stricken. Insgesamt ist Entrelac recht dehnbar.

Garn
50 - 100g Sockengarn oder ähnliches Garn mit längeren Farbverläufen. (Theoretisch reichen für Größe M 50g knapp aus. Für längere Bündchen oder Daumen, wird aber etwas mehr benötigt.) Ich empfehle dringend bei der Garnwahl darauf zu achten, dass das Garn einigermaßen gut verzwirnt ist.

Maschenprobe
Es handelt sich nicht um eine „echte“ Maschenprobe: Ein Quadrat (ungedehnt) 9M x 18R = 2,5 cm x 3,5 cm (M) bzw. 11M x 22R = 3 cm x 4 cm (L)
Wenn mit der Nadelgröße gestrickt wird, die normalerweise für Socken oder anderes fingering-Garn genutzt wird, sollte es für die meisten passen.

At times I love knitting entrelac. But I did not like the fact the squares always ‘stand on their tips’. These mitts have an unusual entrelac construction, with invisible seaming.

This pattern is not recommended as first entrelac project. You should be familiar with the basics.

This pattern will give you

• an introduction in the construction of the mitts;
• many tips and detailed instructions to most of the steps;
• a schematic overview for both sizes to keep track of you work;
• some suggestions for optional modifications like i.e. a thumb, making the mitts longer or shorter and so on;
• an illustrated instruction for a invisible join.

Sizing
Size M has a calculated circumference about 18 cm / 7 in (unstretched); for size L it’s approximately 21 cm / 8.3 in. My wrist circumference is 18 cm / 7.1 in, size M fits snuggly (but not too narrow), size L is a bit loose, for a casual look. I recommend size M for small and ‘normal’ hands, unless you want a loose fit. More ‘athletic’ hands should choose size L. Size L is a bit shorter at the underarm (about 21 cm / 8.3 in without cuff; size M is 23 cm / 9 in). This offers the possibility for a longer (and looser) cuff (see also options). Overall entrelac is quite stretchy.

Yarn
50-100g / 1.75-3.5 oz sock yarn or fingering weight yarn with colour gradient. Another possibility could be different colours for each row of squares. (In theory 50 g is enough for a size M, but longer cuffs and a thumb require a bit more.)
I strongly recommend to choose a well twisted yarn that will not split as you knit.

Gauge
There is not really a gauge: one square (unstretched) should be about 9 stitches x 18 rows = 2,5 cm x 3,5 cm / 1 in x 1.4 in (size M) respectively 11 stitches x 22 rows = 3 cm x 4 cm / 1.2 in x 1.6 in (size L)
You should be ok if you choose the needles size you normally use for sock yarn.
