Surfer's Wave Beanie
My surfer husband, Ian, sometimes recognizes photo or video shoot locations just by a wave. As a (very) amateur photographer that is lucky enough to live near the beautiful Pacific, I know that you can stand in the same spot for 20 minutes hoping a hulking crashing spray will repeat itself once more, only to be disappointed. It’s so interesting that each wave is completely unique, yet totally recognizable!
When Ian asked for a wave beanie for Christmas, I began trying to hunt down the perfect pattern, only to be disappointed by too symmetrical pattern repeats and/ or squared waves that resembled Greek keys. So, I set to work developing this pattern, hoping to capture the right rolling effect and individuality of each wave. Ian says it’s the most comfortable hat he’s owned. I hope you enjoy.
The pattern includes a chart of 4 different waves that is repeated twice.
