The historic Old Shale lace pattern, also known as Feather & Fan, combined with a simple garter stitch border creates a pretty little blanket for a large baby doll or newborn baby.

Or choose one of the larger sizes for a child’s or adult afghan. Extra stitches on the side borders (short rows) ensure that the edge is neat and straight. Design is knit flat in your choice of 6 different sizes.

Occasional, EASY to work wrapped stitches are used on the border to eliminate the border pulling in. Try this! It’s a great trick to have in your skill set for a better looking square or rectangle.
