Swirl is another simple to knit but amazingly complex looking design. No one needs to know this other than you though, especially if you knit this as a gift.

The stitches are simple because they use the mosaic stitch method of colourwork. You will be working with only one colour at a time in each round. Easy peasy even if you are new to this type of knitting. This pattern is written out in full row-by-row and does not use charts.

You can easily substitute with any fingering that will give a suitable gauge.

Would you prefer a Worsted weight version?.

Measurements: After blocking: approx. 76 cm/30” bottom edge, 53 cm/21” neck opening,
20 cm/8” height.
Gauge: Before blocking: 28 stitches x 38 rows = 10 cm/4” square in stocking stitch with
3.5 mm/US 4 needles. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge.

Yarns used:
SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock Yarn, 80% Merino, 20% Nylon.
388 m/425 yards, 115 grams.

Colour (A) Basil (used 35 grams).
Colour (B) Saphire (used 45 grams).

I found this yarn to be a little thicker than many fingering weights. If you substitute you may wish to go down slightly in needle size to achieve good drape and definition.

Needles and supplies:
3.25 mm/US 3 circular needles 60 cm/24” long. (for the borders).
3.5 mm/US 4 circular needles 60 cm/24” long.
16 stitch markers, one being a different colour to mark start of rounds.
Tapestry needle.
