I like the idea of vast open space and clusters of pattern…and so I found the taiga.
Taiga is the word for forest in the Russian language. It describes the largest biome in the world…here the severe climate produces small clumped forests of coniferous trees and large open spaces. It is beautiful and stark.

This is a pattern for a Faroese style shawl knit from the top down. This shawl has panels of stockinette with a central leaf motif, including a few cables. The shawl continues to grow in this manner until the last row section, in which, the pattern is knit across the entire bottom of the shawl.
