THE CORD SOLES

TURN CROCHET SLIPPERS INTO SHOES FOR STREET WEAR.
UNIQUE method for ANY foot-size and foot-shape.
Infant to giant!

  • Doable for all handy crafters.
  • No sole-poking, no seaming.
  • One-piece slippers will be joined to the soles.
  • Or you can continue to crochet a shoe in rounds on top of the sole.
  • Note that sealant/caulk is involved in this project.

The plain shape of Espadrilles,
is my great inspiration designing crochet slippers.
Espadrilles are originally simple canvas shoes with rope-soles, handmade in Spain for hundreds of years (and other places world-wide, only named differently).
The traditional soles are not for amateurs to make, and surly it’s not easy to achieve the right size!

The CORD SOLES are my solution for homemade rope-soles.
An invention in order to substitute the original soles for Espadrilles!

Joining out-soles to one-piece slippers, has several advantages.
They protect your slippers against wear and tear, makes them sturdy, and comfortable to walk and wear, it looks nice, and not least;
It turns your home slippers into street shoes!

Handmade insoles will add extra comfort and softness, and keep the slippers in shape.
Personalize the soles with matching fabric, …. and labels! A very good gift-idea!

MATERIALS FOR CORD

  • My experience is that regular packing, or garden twine, about 2-3 mm thick, worked into a thicker cord, creates the best CORD SOLE.
  • Available all over the world.
  • Find it at home, or in any construction- or hardware store, craft-store, office supplier, supermarket (HW- or office department).
  • Or purchase on-line, search for: Twine>Jute>Supply
