The simple lacework pattern on the front of this fingerless glove contrasts with the understated stockinette stitch on the backside of the glove to create a classy accessory that knits up quickly.

Instructions for this pattern include two construction techniques. For the first option, the pattern is knit flat and seamed at the end using the mattress stitch. For the second option, the pattern is knit flat for the first two inches (approx. depending on gage). Stitches are then transferred to circular or double pointed needles to continue knitting in the round. The first inch is then seamed using the mattress stitch, leaving a hole for the thumb.

Instructions also include two options for length: short and long. The short length version ends at the wrist. This is particularly practical for wearing gloves with coats and long sleeve shirts without having to adjust the glove over or under other garments. The long version ends near the elbow and is particularly stunning. Options for both lengths are noted in the patterns below.

If you are new to using the mattress stitch or simply need a refresher, there are many fabulous tutorials available or free on You Tube.

The pattern includes row-by-row written pattern instructions.
