Lenore Tawney’s sculptural weavings were a groundbreaking approach to the medium and would help reframe our understanding of fiber art. In the 1950s, her unconventional weaving methods were frowned upon by both the craft and art worlds, but her work came to be recognized as fundamental in elevating craft processes to the status of fine art. Through its unique construction and interplay of stripes and lines, our Lenore sweater is an ode to the artist who reimagined fiber’s creative power.
