This sweater came about while I was watching ‘Penny Dreadful.’ There is an episode where the Ethan Chandler character (Played by Josh Harnett, rawr!) is wearing a cool sweater. After watching the episode, I decided I was going to try to re-create the sweater in crochet for my dear hubby because every man can use a little Josh Hartnett sprucing up from time to time.

I was always leary about doing a man-sized sweater because using a SC would take FOREVER and using anything larger would produce something gappy he would never wear. But alas, I found my solution! The LINKED double crochet stitch. This allows for a speedy work up with no gaps! And since it’s worked in continuous rounds, there are NO SEAMS either.

“But Kate!” you say, “I don’t know the linked double crochet stitch!”

Not to worry, my little chickadees! There is a video AND picture tutorial included. Further, it’s easy as pie and you’ll find yourself using it in clothing that calls for the plain ol’ DC in the future. Promise.

Still not sold? What if I told you this pattern was made to measure? What does that mean, you ask? It means you can use ANY HOOKS, ANY yarn, and come to ANY GAUGE that you like. As long as you measure this as you go, your fit should come out exactly how you want it too. Also included: an easy modification guide so you can tweak this pattern to fit different body types and/or personal preferences. VIVA LA FREEDOM!

So here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Yarn of your choice
  2. 2 hooks of your choice
  3. 4 stitch markers
  4. 4 buttons
  5. Measuring and sewing notions

So what are you waiting for? Don’t you know a man who can use a little Josh Hartnett fashion love in his life?
