Say hello to the Nexus Headband and Brim Beanie. This pattern offers a choice of five different yarn weights: Aran/Worsted, Light Chunky, Chunky, Light Super Chunky and Super Chunky and is written for using two contrasting colours. Instructions are also given for reversing how these colours are used, or you can work with a single colour too! You can choose between a ribbed or garter edge for the headband and go on to make the brim beanie which has a beautiful fit.

The clever little stitch that forms the heart of the Nexus is worked over two stitches and four rounds so size is easily adapted. It is a pleasure to work and easily memorable.

Gauge ~

It is important that you check your gauge to ensure your knits are the right size and that the recommended yarn amounts are adequate. You may need to adjust your gauge by changing your needle size accordingly. When choosing which pattern to follow for the yarn you wish to use, you may find it useful to check the WPI (wraps per inch) given below. See here.

Gauge is given in pattern and knitted in the round using the recommended needle size for each yarn weight. Measurements should be taken unstretched and unblocked.

Aran/Worsted ~ 18 sts and 32 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. WPI - 11
Light Chunky ~ 16 sts and 28 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. WPI - 10
Chunky ~ 14 sts and 26 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. WPI - 8
Light Super Chunky ~ 12 sts and 24 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. WPI - 7
Super Chunky ~ 10 sts and 20 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. WPI - 6
