This lovely cowl is my perfect comfort knit, that I designed for my evening knitting. It’s the time of day when I really want to knit, but my brain needs something gentle and relaxing.

I love to play with colour, and the stripes allow you to do that in a way that is easy to customise to your own taste.

The pretty ribbing and cute eyelets add interest, and really make you want to get to the next stripe as quick as you can !

As I was knitting the cowl, the eyelet detail made me think of big wide owl eyes. The decrease in the middle cleverly makes a little beak, and so The Owl Cowl it had to be.

I am offering this pattern FREE of charge, and hope that you enjoy knitting one up as much as I did.

Cowl Details

The cowl is knitted in the round on a 16 inch circular needle. The design is simple and straightforward to knit, using just knits, purls, yarn overs and a double decrease. It would be a good beginner project but is equally suitable for a more experienced knitter.

Size

The pattern comes in one size only, but would be easy to adjust.

Yarn

You will need one skein of fingering weight yarn for your main colour, and 6 x 10 g for your contrast sections. I used mini skeins for my contrast colours, but you could equally use leftovers, making this a perfect stash buster project.
