A boomerang shawl with slip-stitch stripes creating a tooth pattern and wider stripes with eyelets to create a center section. The finished shawl dimensions are approximately 23” deep with a 7’ wingspan. For a smaller shawl, you can omit 2 or 3 repeats of the narrow stripes.

There are no tails to weave in on this project. Leave 6 inch ends when changing colors. These will be the beginning of the fringe side of the shawl.

The pattern calls for 5 skeins of yarn, approximately 200 yards in each color, making this shawl a great stash-buster.

A note on the shawl’s name:

I believe that knitting is for everyone, and that anyone can wear a shawl. Often shawls are modeled as a women’s accessory and that is neither fair nor accurate. I also believe that each person has the right to have their unique gender expression recognized and respected. Wear the clothes and accessories that best suit you. Use the gender pronouns that belong to you. Fiber arts welcome everyone with a love of color and texture.

To that end, all my profits from this pattern will be donated to an organization local to my area, and supportive of my family and friends, that works to support everyone’s gender expression - especially those who identify as transgender.
