Holy Cowl this is a fun project! The pattern began as a Mystery (cowl) Knit A Long with Three Clues being released in Jan 2018. Purchase of the pattern includes pdfs of each clue as well as a pdf of the FULL non-mystery pattern..

This project is great for stash busting and using up parital skeins of yarn. You will need 145-150 yards (each) of 4 different colors of fingering weight yarn (great for some of those Fade leftovers!).

The construction is really fun and surprising: You knit mostly back and forth, but still end up with a circular cowl with no seaming at all.

What Materials and Skills Do I Need?

  • Gauge is 22 sts & 32 rows/4” (after blocking) in stst (on the bias) on size 5 (3.75 mm) needle (or size to obtain gauge)

  • The cowl measures approx. 21.5” high, and 25” in circumference

  • There is a lot of 2 color striping! If you love stripes, this will be your thing.

  • There will be a few puns. If you love bad puns, this may also be your thing. (if you hate puns, just ignore my sense of humor…)

  • There is stockinette stitch, both in the round and back-and-forth; You will need to do some yarn overs and some different increases and decreases.

  • There is no brioche or stranded colorwork.

  • You will need about 145-150 yards EACH of 4 colors of fingering weight or sock weight yarn.
