Toe-Up Gusset Heel Socks
I have made so many pairs of socks following this pattern for adult sized feet. Measure the person’s foot and adjust the yarn and needles accordingly - 44 stitches will be used for all foot sizes. Use larger needles for wider feet, and you can also use smaller than size 0 needles for tinier adult feet.
You will love how these socks hug your feet and legs! The gusset heel ensures a smooth fit as well. The yarns I use are all machine washable and dryable for those busy folks out there.
If you are making men’s socks, just forget the picot edge and complete the edging with a k1, p1 ribbing.
Bonus feature: A table is included within the pattern for filling in people’s foot sizes for future reference. If you have a family to knit socks for or even if the socks are just for you, you will like having the handy reference table available.
Words of Warning!!! Knitting socks can be habit forming and lead to addiction. If you have a sock-knitting problem, well, I’m not sure there is any help to seek!!!

5-24-11: I just completed an identical pair for my three year old granddaughter. I don’t actually have this one written up yet, but it uses size #0000 DPNs and four less stitches on the needles and the heel flap is adjusted slightly with four less stitches on the short rows.
