This is my draft chart for a Totoro cushion, using worsted weight yarn and a size 4.5 or 5 UK needle. Totoro is knitted flat on straight needles, 1 front piece (shown in chart) and 1 back piece (follow chart without any colour work)

The finished Totoro measures approximately 19” high x 14” wide, perfect for a cushion/pillow, or it can be felted into a soft toy size if using appropriate yarn.

You will need a soft grey yarn for the primary colour and a white or off-white for the tummy, plus a small amount of black yarn for the nose, mouth and whiskers and eye pupils.

The symbols on the chart were of my own invention just to note down where i needed to include decreases and increases - i’m an amateur knitter so have no idea what the correct symbols should be, so please don’t let these confuse you!

Look forward to seeing your Totoro’s!
