Got to love anything that makes a baby look like a senior citizen! This lovely newborn size baby cardigan is a perfect gift for a new baby. Worked entirely in fingering weight superwash merino yarn with a twisted stockinette stitch, it has a unique texture and cuddly-soft drape.*

Gauge:
6 stitches and 9 rows per inch of twisted stockinette.

Supplies:
This pattern uses about 70 grams of fingering weight yarn.
Two sets of US size 4 (3.5mm) circular needles.
3 vintage buttons, 1/2 to 5/8 inch diameter.
Yarn needle for finishing.

Notes:
“TS” in this pattern refers to the Twisted Stockinette Stitch, where you knit into the back loop on the knit stitches, and purl as usual. If you’ve never tried this before, a very good video tutorial can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2zgMtqfrPI.
Just be sure to watch the second half of the video with the pink swatch. It’s very simple to pick up and it adds wonderful texture to normal stockinette without affecting gauge too much.

The proportions for this pattern were inspired by the Lazy Daisy Baby Jacket from Pickles of Norway! Their sweater is the cutest thing ever as a gift for a baby girl and their site is full of wonderful free patterns, go check them out!
