Inspired by my university’s 116-year-old athletic logo, this collegiate wool cap will keep you cozy in the harsh Chicago winters! If you’re not a Maroon, it’s pretty easy to switch up the colors and the logo (I just made my chart using stitchboard.com’s free pattern wizard).

This is a super quick knit -- it only took me about 4 hours! -- so it’s great for gifts. The yarn is quite inexpensive, and though it has wool it is still washable!

This hat stretches, but is basically an adult medium size. To make a larger or smaller version, just add or subtract a few stitches (it won’t mess with the pattern).

You only need one skein of the main color (and even if you choose to leave out the logo, one skein should still be enough). You need far less than a skein for the alternate color, so if you happen to have some scrap yarn in your stash, this would be a good use for it!
