A truly Unique Tunisian Crochet Shawl that is created using your birthday, and your name!

The Shawl starts with a series of chains dependant on your Year of birth. Rows of Tunisian Purl Stitch begin the Shawl, worked in the same number of rows as the Month you were born. Next, the Tunisian Simple Stitch and Tunisian Twisted Simple Stitch create ribbing, which is repeated until the number of rows reaches the same number as the day in the Month that you were born. A sequence of stripes are then created using 1 or more contrasting colours. These stripes represent Morse Code, and can spell out your name, initials, or a special number.

You can also extend the Shawl into a Blanket, by adding more Morse Code letters and numbers!

This pattern will guide you step-by-step, to make a truly Unique Shawl, that is personalised to you, or for someone special as a gift.

Note: the pattern consists of 14 pages

SIZE
The length of your Shawl will range from 63.33 inches – 73.33 inches long, depending on the year that you were born. As there are so many possibilities for the other elements of the Shawl, I cannot tell you how wide your finished Shawl will be, but I have included size information for every step. This will allow you to add up your measurements for each step as you go, so you can see how wide your Unique Shawl will be.

MATERIALS
9.0mm Tunisian Crochet Hook with a long cable
Aran Yarn in Main Colour (MC)
Aran Yarn in Contrast Colour/Colours (CC)
Stitch Markers (for helping keep count of the starting chains)

The amount of yarn you will need will depend on how big your Shawl will be, and that depends on your birthday and the letters or numbers you want to spell out, so I cannot give you exact amounts. For Step 4, you can use either 1 contrast colour, or many contrast colours, by using a different colour for each letter or number.
