A split-circle shawl or cape worked in shortrows for a swingy, dramatic look. Can be worked in one solid color, or two colors (MC for the wedges and CC for the separator stripes) or different colors throughout the wedges, keeping the separator stripes the same throughout. Knit it shorter to make a platter collar. Really, anything goes!

Because of the shortrow construction, the shawl can be made in any shape from a half-circle to a full circle or more, if you choose. Gauge is up to you; it’s dependent on your yarn and needle choices. This is explained in the pattern.

Yardages listed are guidelines ranging from a half-circle in bulky to a full circle in laceweight.

Prototypes were knit with the following yarn weights and final yardages (estimated):

Bulky: size 15 needles, approximately 810 yards for a full-circle shawl (shown in autumn colors)
Worsted: size 10 needles, approximately 1500 yards for a near-full circle (shown in blues/greens)
Fingering: size 4 needles, approximately 1100 yards for a half-circle (shown in shades of blue)
