CONSTRUCTION

  • Garment is worked in two pieces, then seamed together along the sides and shoulders to the neck opening.
  • Openings for the arms are worked into the Front. The ribbed trim for the openings is picked up and worked after blocking.
  • Stitches are picked up around the neck opening and the turtleneck Collar is worked circularly.

MATERIALS
Approximately 1325 (1640, 1980, 2345) yards of worsted weight wool yarn
10 (12, 15, 17) skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter (100% American Targhee-Columbia wool; 140 yards/50g)

GAUGE
25 stitches & 32 rows = 4” in cabled pattern from Chart with Size A needle, after blocking
To check gauge, cast on 62 stitches and work the 60-stitch repeat from Chart with a selvedge stitch on each side

NEEDLES
Size A (for main fabric):
One 16” and one 32” (or longer) circular needle in size needed to obtain gauge listed
Suggested Size: 4½ mm (US 7)

Size B (for Ribbing):
One 16” and one 32” (or longer) circular needle two sizes smaller than Size A
Suggested Size: 3¾ mm (US 5)

Finished Dimensions
48¼ (58, 67½, 77)“ circumference at hem; 35½ (43, 51, 58½)” circumference measured at upper arm;
