Yarn

  • Sport Weight / 5 ply yarn, sample used Cloudborn Superwash Merino Sport Twist
  • Yarn A – Grey Heather, 105 yards / 95 meters.
  • Yarn B – Slate Heather, 100 yards / 90 meters.
  • Yarn C – Sky Blue for Small Witches, Autumn Heather for Large Witches, 100 yards / 90 meters.

Gauge
Gauge 24 sts x 34 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm in stockinette stitch after blocking.
27 sts x 34 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm in colorwork stitch after blocking.

  • For this pattern, the stitch gauge is more important than the row gauge.
  • If you cannot get both stockinette stitch and colorwork gauge using the same needle, try using different size needle for one of them.
  • The listed measurement around the head is based on stitch count of colorwork section. To get that exact measurement, it is more important to have the correct colowork stitch gauge.

Design and Construction

  • Hat is knitted from bottom up seamlessly in round.
  • Motifs of witches work around the hat.

Skills requred:

  • Work in round.
  • Work increases (m1L).
  • Work decreases (ssk).
  • Work stranded colowork sometimes with long floats.
