I like the look of a winter vineyard when the grapevines have lost their leaves and the vines are exposed in all their twisty glory. This shawl is meant to evoke rows of grapevines sleeping in a winter vineyard awaiting the arrival of spring.

Winter Vineyard is worked from the top down and the crescent shape is created by increasing on the edges. There are no short rows. This shawl should be a relaxing knit with enough interest to keep you going. The lace sections are worked every other row with rest rows in between.

This pattern contains both written and charted instructions. The shawl begins with a garter stitch tab and is worked top down.

The pattern shows the shawl in both fingering and dk weight yarn in one size. Winter Vineyard is meant to work for 1-2 skeins of fingering or dk weight yarn. However this pattern is customizable and the shawl may be made as large as you wish. Please note that changing the size of the shawl will also change the amount of yarn required.

Gauge is not crucial to the finished project but will affect the amount of yarn required.
