This pattern can be worked with a variety of fingering weight wool in a variety of ways. The pattern is written so you can change your contrast colors every few rows, or you can use that as a template and change contrast colors as often as you like, alternating with a background color all the way through. This makes it possible to use full skeins as well as mini skeins.

This flexibility of the pattern is a great way to use your stash and is also a beautiful template for your gradient yarns. Imagine this in a variety of colors- speckles, solids, fades, and gradients.

The lace pattern is easy to memorize once you’ve worked a repeat or two, so it makes a relaxing knit.

The pattern has been tested and tech edited. The instructions are both written and charted.

The name of the pattern was inspired by a scene in the film, Sense and Sensibility (one of my favorites). In this scene Col. Brandon, played by the late Alan Rickman, reads to Marianne a piece by Edmond Spencer:
“For whatsoever from one place doth fall,
Is with the tide unto another brought:
For there is nothing lost, that may be found, if sought.”
