This is a time when racism in all its horrors is staring us all in the face and we need to address it in our own ways, most notably by examining it in ourselves.

Yesterday’s Sunrise is a cowl pattern created to celebrate hand painted yarn. The original cowl was created in Fleece Artist Merino Slim National Parks Collection Yarn, Thousand Islands, Ontario colour way.

After I told Lyn Gemmell, hand dyer at Shelridge Yarns, about this pattern, she asked asked about my favourite colours. I sent her the photo I took that morning of the glorious sunrise over Lake Ontario and Lyn hand painted yarn especially for this pattern. I love it.

I think it’s likely that she could be persuaded to dye more if you ask her nicely.

The easy textured stitch pattern produces a wonderfully squishy and warm cowl that looks good on both sides. Wear it either side out.
