Notes

We need a big afghan/blanket for the bed in the camper. And this’ll be great road trip knitting.

Cascade 220 Superwash is a light worsted - gauge is 5 st/inch on size 7. The pattern calls for 4 st/inch. I’m increasing the stitch counts on the modules. The first block called for casting on 96 stitches - I cast on 120. I really want the full size blanket.

07.27.16 - First block measures 12”x12”. Perfect. It took 75 gm of yarn.

08.21.16 - 11 blocks of 55 are completed. Lots of road knitting time on a camping trip to Colorado. This weighs 551 grams right now.

02.18.17 - All 55 blocks are completed. 2231 grams of yarn - about 4462 meters. 2.75 miles? Yeeks!

I still need to decide on a knitted border. I-cord or just a garter stitch edging? Hmmm…

We used it on our trip through MT, ID, WY and it is the perfect weight. But I still haven’t put an edging on it. It’s ok without an edge, but it would look more finished with one. Why do I put this off?!

Finally finished the edging on a long road trip to Colorado. Initially I was considering an i-cord edging, but man-oh-man, that’s A LOT of i-cord.

I decided on a garter stitch edging, one side at a time. Using the smaller leftovers of the yarn, I picked up stitches on one side, knit two rows of garter stitch, and then bind off on the wrong side. Then move on to the next side. This way I didn’t have to hold ALL of the edge stitches on a needle at once. (I don’t think I have a needle long enough for that.)

I actually like this edging quite well. See photo #3.
