Notes

TO MAKE THIS HAT:
CO 120 sts with size 5 needle. (I used the Twisted German Cast-on to make it stretchy.)
Work 8 rows in ribbing. (I did 2x2, but you could do 1x1 if you prefer.)
Switch to size 6 needle and knit 1 row in red.
On the next row, you will be knitting the biohazard chart. To have it centered between the decreases at the top of the hat, knit 27 stitches and then begin the chart.

When you reach row 39 of the chart, you will begin to decrease.
Row 38: * k30, PM *
Row 39: k2tog, knit to 2 stitches before marker, ssk, k2tog, k to 1 st before marker, k1, * k2tog, knit to 2 sts before marker, ssk , repeat from to * once.
Row 40: * k2tog, knit to 2 sts before marker, ssk , repeat from to *
Repeat row 40 until 9 stitches remain.

This creates rather sharp decreases, but otherwise the hat is too long . This keeps the the biohazard symbol neatly between the decreases.

Mostly done. Just need to give it a good soak and weave in all the ends.

Weaving in ends… I hate weaving in ends…

The way I made it, I ended up with about 80 ends to weave in. I’ve still got 40 to go…

Finally finished. YAY. Husband wants one, too. I think I’ll duplicate stitch the biohazard onto his instead of knitting with two colours…
