Notes

The word “space” refers to the small gap between 2DC groups, work your stitch or stitches between the two groups. Chain 3 at beginning of each round counts as DC. All rounds are joined with a slip stitch in the beginning chain.

Body, begin is 2.5mm hook
Row 1 FSC x167
Rows 2-14: start with rs facing work fpdc/bpdc for 13 rounds, ch 2 and turn each round (168 stitches, 14 rows)
change to 3.0mm hook
Row 15 rs facing: sc around with a decrease of 6 (sc 12, dec, (sc 26, dec) x5, sc last 14) (162 stitches)
Begin pattern ws facing:
Row 16: rs facing, work 2 DC in first stitch, skip stitch, work 2 DC in next stitch, skip stitch around, turn (81 2DC groups)
Rows 17-21: ws facing ch3, work DC in next space work 2 DC in each space around, turn (81 2DC groups)
Decrease rows
Row 22:rs facing ch 3, 2 DC in next space x38, DC in next space x2, 2 DC in next space x 39, turn (79 2DC groups)
Row 23: repeat row 17 around but…be mindful of the decrease stitches and work 2 DC on either side of decrease

Row 39: rs facing, ch 3, 2 DC in next space between 2DC x38, DC in next space, turn (38 2DC groups)

Rows 41-51: repeat Row 40 (26 2DC groups on final row, final row should be front side facing you)
Use a stitch maker to indicate center back of the sweater. Fasten off, piece should measure approx 13” across and 17” from bottom
