I knit most of the left mitten, and parts of the right mitten -- we split the knitting to speed up the process. My friends in the uptownknitmob and I designed these, and we’re so delighted that they’re really out in the world now!

We designed the mittens exquisite-corpse style. For the first mitten, we each got the last row of the subsequent chart to build our own design from. For the second mitten, we got the first and last rows from the corresponding section of the first mitten — which means that you can swap sections back and forth between the mittens, mixing and matching to get your favourite combinations.

Because the design wraps entirely around the hand, they’re hard to resize — but you can easily move the thumb up or down the hand to accommodate shorter or longer hands. (There’s a detailed schematic in the pattern.)
