Gee, finally finished this project after…how many months? Four? Six?

I started the Kirby easily enough, but quickly got bogged down when I had to attach the arms (?) and feet. So…that took awhile. I was getting into the swing of knitting and not too interested in amigurumi at the time, hence my disinterest.

Made the hat and then did nothing more. My son asked me often when I was going to finish Kirby. I think he gave up on the whole thing and started playing with Kirby sans face.

The hectic Christmas season recently finished, where I found myself so overwhelmed with too many projects, I decided to complete some of the projects that have been hanging over my head.

I got out some fabric paint and cut some felt pieces only to find that the blue paint was too dark and I had silver instead of white. I really didn’t want to sew on the eyes so I tried to use rubber cement. I didn’t get a good bond and I knew my son would use and abuse Kirby by taking him everywhere. In the end, I found myself sewing the eyes to the head/body. Not fun.

I really should have attached the felt before I completed the body. It would have been easier and looked much nicer. Even better, I could have used adhesive backed felt.

I used white adhesive backed felt on the hat and red fabric paint for the “M”.

Though I used Simply Soft yarn for Kirby, I had wanted to use Peaches ‘n’ Creme cotton yarn. I tried in vain to convince my son that the cotton was the better choice and Kirby would be much bigger. He told me the colour was wrong and wouldn’t budge from his decision. Kirby turned out small as I expected. It would be better to use a cotton yarn.

Overall, I’m not very pleased with the final outcome, but I am glad I finally finished the project. My son was very happy to come home and find the completed Kirby. (^=^)
