Notes

For my nephew, Sawyer, and my SIL who loves owls.

I saw these and thought they were so cute…and useful!

I started the first strap cover when I was supposed to be finishing the Shrug It project.

I intended to use a Homespun yarn and even spent a lot of time picking it out. Of course, I completely forgot that a cable pattern is impossible to see in Homespun. I tried to convince myself otherwise, but in the end, I frogged my first attempt.

I really wanted to use a mottled brown/tan cotton yarn, but I’m running out of time to finish all my projects before Christmas. So what I did was to use an ecru and a really white white. I didn’t want to use a dark brown with ecru because I don’t like the effect, plus it would still make the owl difficult to see. Using the ecru and white sorta works, so I guess it’s okay.

I wasn’t sure if I would embroider the owl features, but decided I should. I thought it would be irritating, but the work was very quick.

All in all, a very quick pattern. I found some more brown yarn in my stash that I think will work well for a second pair.

Update

Ran out of time to make a second pair. But that’s okay. I made a ton of Christmas stuff for my nephew. (^=^)

The first picture shows the strap covers prior to blocking. I got around to blocking them Christmas Eve and didn’t get a picture.
