My first shawl! (^=^) I like the pattern and am happy the pattern knits up very quickly.

After some difficulty with the garter tab, I followed a link on Ravelry to this YouTube video by verypink.com. Definitely a lifesaver since I couldn’t understand the directions at all.

This has been an eye-opening experience. Like how handbags are crocheted, I did not expect shawls to be formed in this manner.

I am a bit worried that the shawl won’t be large enough. I guess I’ll have to block the heck out of it when it comes time.

Update: 4/10/15

After being in hibernation for two years I’ve finally come back to this project. The main reason I haven’t done anything with it is because there were some errors in my work and I didn’t want to go undo several rows.

It had also been so long that I couldn’t figure out where I was in the pattern. Completely frogged and restarted. In a day I have completed both charts A and B.

Instead of knitting the first two stitches of every row, on the right side rows I slip the first stitch knitwise, then knit the second stitch. At the end of the row, I knit the second to last stitch and slip the last stitch knitwise. I wrong side rows I pork the first stitch and knit the second stitch. At the end of the row I knit the second to last stitch and purl the last stitch.

After everything that happened I decided to use a lifeline for the first time ever.

This time around I haven’t had much difficulty with the pattern and it’s gone by quickly.

Update: 4/11/15

Finished. Completed charts A, B and C.

I initially followed up the last lace row of Chart C with a purl row, as I interpreted the instructions, but didn’t like the look. Frogged back to the lifeline I put in the last lace row and started the garter stitch row on the WS. Completed 7 garter stitch rows total so I could BO on the RS. Somehow I managed to bind off properly with the correct number of picots.

I have no idea how I’m going to block this with the cats and kids around…
