Whoa, I’d forgotten I’d paid so much for this yarn! All the more reason to make sure this cardigan turns out nicely.

I am knitting at a much tighter gauge than specified in the pattern, probably due to the yarn. I knitted a second garter stitch swatch on larger needles but I didn’t like the fabric as much as it wasn’t as stable. So I did some basic maths and decided to knit a larger size, which is working well so far.

I really wasn’t happy with the way the garter stitch on the cuff looked in the round. I tried to do a kind of travelling slipped stitch to hide it, which didn’t work. In the end I ripped back and knit it flat. I much prefer a real seam to a faux seam. This also meant I could leave a little thumb hole so I can keep my palms warm when it’s chilly.

If knitting the cuff flat, P1 k to last St P1 on the WS for easier sewing up.

Omg, blocking this thing was so hard! It’s a lot of fabric and the wool absorbed loads of water and was difficult to wash without risking stretching it. I was fairly happy with the fit of the circle before blocking so didn’t want much stretch. It’s on the table now, I really hope it turns out okay.
