I’m a little nervous about this one but also excited to try something new.
9/25/16 - checking gauge.
I can’t find a long enough cable for my interchangeable needle set so I had to order some replacements. I liked the fabric I got with size 8 needles and that is the one size I have a long enough fixed cable needle so I’m going with that. It seems strange to me that even that was too big and I would have to go to a smaller needle to get gauge; I usually knit tighter and have to go bigger.
9/26/16 - So I got a little ways (maybe 2 inches) and noticed a hole where I forgot to twist the yarns when switching colors. I decided to pull it out and start all over and call that practice. My yarns were getting way too tangled up and I got a better idea on how to do this. I just needed to talk to my son to complete my idea since he’s really clever. What I realized is, if I put my balls of yarn in order and work the first row and then just move myself to the other side of the work instead of flipping my work I can avoid most of the tangling. Problem was my table is too big to use and I needed some place that would be safe from my beagle puppy who likes to pounce on my project and run around with them (shivers). So I explained what I had in mind and he had the idea to use my ironing board and sit on a bar stool. Perfect! So that is what I’m going to do. Ready, set, go…
