Notes

Although I really like using long-tail cast on in most instances, I was having trouble picking up the bottom stitches of the cast on edge, so I used a knit cast on instead.

After completing the chart two times and knitting to row 6 one time, I had a fair amount of yarn remaining and considered knitting the chart a full three times. But since I didn’t have a scale to weigh my yarn and couldn’t be sure I’d be able to complete the motif and the cast off, I decided to trust the pattern.

For the two rows of garter stitch before the bind off, I made sure to include the two yarn overs between the edge stitches and the body and the two around the center stitch. It’s not specified in the instructions, but it maintains the pattern and doesn’t throw off the bind off.

After some deliberation, I pinned out every one of the picots so that the scalloped shape of the edging would open up and show better. I’m glad I did.

Things I Would Do Differently
In hindsight, I may have blocked this a little too aggressively. The garter edging along the top was stretched so that it doesn’t really have any spring left in it, which wasn’t necessary.

Finished Measurements
Width: 56 inches
Drop: 21 inches

Technical Details
I used a ChiaoGoo RED Lace circular needle (40”). I wet-blocked the finished piece on 4 two-foot-by-two-foot foam tiles using nickel-plated steel ball-headed pins.
