This is a nice well written pattern. I did make a few modifications to suit my tastes however. I didn’t count the ch 2 as a stitch and swapped it for a ch 1 and a hdc. I also surface crocheted the laces on instead of sewing. I used two strands of yarn for the laces. I also made a few pairs and the pattern uses 2hdc in the 2 middle toe kick stitches. It didn’t lay as smoothly as I would’ve like and next time I am just going to do 1hdc in each of the stitches.
