I knitted up the pattern Linda shared with me as a test knit. It is a lovely knit and although it is a baby/toddler size hat there is a lot of knitting in this project - so took a little bit of time. I use traditional Fair Isle knitting techniques within the knitting - with double pointed needles knitting in the round, however you can use a round needle, especially for the ‘crown’ of the hat. You also need to knit back and forth rows - such as purl Fair Isle to avoid cutting ends of wool, or simply cut and knit rows in plain stitches and at the finishing stage, Linda explains clearly how to finish off the hat neatly by weaving in the ends and sewing up.
My colleague asked for the hat for her neice, who is enjoying wearing it I hear and see from pictures!
