Started in February 2018 on US1s and tried to do math magic to make stitch count work. Got to first heel but then let set because I wasn’t thrilled with the pooling and was worried that larger needles would make less sturdy socks.

In August 2018 I bought US1.5 and US2 needles in an attempt to redo with correct gauge. US1.5s didn’t work; US2s were close but not quite, but I didn’t want to risk US3s (which I only had in wood) so I increased to 64 sts around.

Wow, socks go fast on US2s…

Done! I think these took me a mere week once I restarted on US2s! I just did a short row heel when I reached the heel yarn and it seemed to work fine.

Tons of extra pink yarn for the toes--enough left to possibly do contest heels & toes on another pair of socks.

Tip, since there’s nothing in the instructions about how to start the second sock: just keep pulling. Then pull some more. Then pull more, and more, until you hit yellow yarn again. I didn’t see any yellow yarn except on the exterior of the ball, and I tried starting with it but it didn’t have the white section for the cast on. I have no idea why there’s yellow on the exterior end of the skein; it’s not used for anything and all it did was confuse me.
