Notes

I’m testing this shawl for LiliTupili who’s creating a crochet version of the awesome Drachenfeuer. I haven’t done much in slip stitch crochet so I first practiced the pattern using Catania.

07.02.13 I finished Part I this evening. I love the pattern already! The yarn is also gorgeous, such vibrant colors! Did not have any problems except for that I had to count stitches in the right side rows to not miss the last stitch of the short row below. I used about 20g of yarn already. The last row had 60+4 stitches.

08.02.13 Finished part II and III of the first feather. Had 142 stitches in the long row of part III.

09.02.13 Had to go back to the beginning of part III because I did not have enough stitches in the long row. Did not take up 1 stitch per row but per 2 rows when working along the side of part II which is why I had 142 sts instead of 162 (?). Started crocheting part IV.

10.02.13 Oh well! I didn’t like the way the decreases looked like so I started part IV all over again. I love, love, love it now! Finished part IV and V.

11.02.13 Finished part VI and headed on to part VII.

14.02.13 Finished the first feather! I used 65g of yarn for it. It’s huge! This is going to be a blanket rather than a shawl. lol The last part didn’t work out as it should, I think. I had two stitches less than I should have but still this part looks bigger than part I. Strange! I went on to the second feather, though, hope it’s going to even out later. I’m going to use even more markers to be sure not to miss stitches on short rows.

Finished part I, II, and III of the second feather already. Used up the first skein (100g) after part III. It’s awesome already! I finally managed to get a picture with more or less accurate colors - but only with my red carpet in the background. Oh well!

19.02.13 I’m halfway through feather 3! Progress is slow now as I’m back to work but I find it relaxing working a bit on it in the evening.

21.02.13 Finished part V and VI of the third feather. I finally managed to get part V right! :D

24.02.13 Third feather is done! I used up the second skein right after part VI.

06.03.13 Finished the fourth feather!

12.03.13 After a short brake I started the fifth feather (and used up the third skein).

05.04.13 Yay! I just finished the fifth feather.

02.05.13 This had to rest for a while, again. Finished the sixth feather today.

08.05.13 Arrghh! I’ve had three knots in the yarn now, causing sudden changes in color. Two times I was lucky and only the smooth transition between two colors has been left out. This last time I had to cut out quite a lot of yarn to make the colors match again. I’m afraid this feather will not work out right as the others did. :/

09.05.13 Two feathers to go!

22.05.13 Finished the 8th feather today! I had to cheat and insert yarn from another skein three times to make it fit. sigh

26.05.2013 It’s done! :D The shawl is soaking in water right now, and I still need to weave in ends. Anyway, I love, love, love it!

28.05.2013 Done! :D
