Notes

I love this skirt! The stitch pattern is simple to execute but gorgeous to look at, with lively lines and an embossed-looking texture. It’s hard not to knit just ‘one more row’. My colors have turned out to be delightfully autumnal. I’m not planning to rake leaves in this lovely, but if I did I’d be well-camouflaged!

I knit this bottom-up because I wanted it narrow at the knees (just above the knee) and flaring sharply to the hips. I’m short so I don’t need much length between knees and hip. The increases as written are perfect! I decreased instead of increasing in my last couple of pattern repeats, then decreased sharply in ribbing for the waist. I wanted this skirt to hold itself up, but I also need to be able to pull it on over my hips, so I worked about 6” of ribbing at the top, and bound off loosely using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy bind off. It fits amazingly well.

Altogether I worked 4 1/2 chart sections, G thru the first half of K. I decreased instead of increasing on J and K.

I’ll wait until it’s dry to decide whether and how to address the curl I’m getting at the cast-on edge.

I’m getting gauge on US0 needles before blocking, which is perfect because size XL is slightly too small.
