For this project, I used the “organ pipes” variation. After completing the ribbing, I created a separator of a knit row followed by a purl row. I should have done this the other way around -- a purl row followed by a knit row -- to match rows 9 & 10 from the pipe organ pattern. That would have helped the transition look a little more natural. There’s nothing wrong with the way it looks now, but that transition would be a little more crisp.
Meredith had the idea to add a felt flower, and I think that’s the accent that really makes the hat stand out.
