Notes

Last year, I got AMBITIOUS! I decided to try my hand at sweater making for Christmas gifts. I wanted an easy sweater pattern that would work for the entire family.

I like the idea of working a top down raglan. My least favorite part of the job is always finishing, and there is a minimal amount with this pattern.

To add a little visual interest, I added a simple cable down each sleeve. They were a big hit with the whole family from the oldest to the littlest.

I used various worsted weight yarns (most of them wool blends so they were washable and wearable.)

If you are wanting an easy sweater pattern to start with, this is a great one. I sized it up and down depending on who it was made for.

I averaged about 6 hours per ball of yarn (220 yards). Adults took 6-8 balls. The wee ones took around 2 balls. I made a total of 12 sweaters between October ‘07 to January ‘07.

UPDATE: October 12, 2010
I pulled my sweater out this fall and discovered a hole in the middle of the front. One of the ladies in my knitting group suggested steeking and making it into a cardigan. Finally got around to doing it today and am so happy with the results!
