I will be trying these socks (GASP!!) as written! My first attempt at cuff down socks. Need to branch out and get over my fear of trying socks the other way.

Love the yarn. Just the thing to cheer myself up through those last brutal days of Cleveland winter.

Only did 2 full repeats of Chart B before starting the heel (I tend to like my socks a little shorter, and with wide calves, I’m always afraid they won’t be stretchy enough). Cuff was 4” before starting the heel.

Got past turning the heel. I realized a few rows into turning the heel what was actually happening on the needles. Brilliant! It was like a lightbulb going on in my head. I don’t know if I’m a convert to cuff-down socks yet (I need to wait until the toe before deciding) but it is pretty exciting to see them turning out.

Finished first sock. LOVE it! The heel shaping is brilliant. And even the toe seaming was simple and straight forward.

Done in exactly one month. Didn’t realize it until I went to add in the end date, but it made me happy! So does the pattern!

Plenty of yarn left over, 1 1/2 oz. leftover
