53 stitches across in Alpine stitch. (See page 304, number 421 in The Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Designs.)2 skeins I’ts a wrap rainbow. 1st skein to center then continue with 2nd skein in reverse. Cut off excess yarn to match up both sides to center evenly and achieve desired length.

Checkerboard border: With Woolike, yarn held double.Add to each end. 52 stitches across (crochet 2 dc together at the end of first row to get the correct number of stitches across)alternate black dc 4 stitches, white dc 4 stitches across to end for 2 rows, then 2 rows starting with white instead of black and 2 more rows starting with black. Total of 6 rows.
