Notes

This is a Kimono which in the end looks a bit like the Thousand Branches Kimono, lots of Jane Thornley stitches, a pattern Jane shared with us last winter.
February 2010. Finished the Kimono just in time to take it on a trip to Viet Nam. While still traveling I would like to add the comment that like all of Jane Thornley’s designs this kimono is PERFECT for travel, it goes with many colors, looks special, elegant and unique, is perfect for keeping warm in the cool of the tropical night and the heat of the day - it will accompany me on all of my trips now!

May 2009:
Needles 3,5 mm and 5,5 mm
Beads and ribbons.

This is most probably going to be a Wrap Scarf kimono - a Jane Thornley Seagrass Impression from her website. I use my green stash, plus complementary colors, techniques include knitting, crochet, crochenit, beading, knotting, i-cords etc., using different needle/hook sizes.

1 August 2009. Almost done, working on the left front part. Then the fun starts with beading and adding tassels and weaving in ribbons. I am keeping to approximately the same color scheme for both halfs of the WrapShrug but use differently textured yarns and stitch sequences for it.

Almost done on 1 August was a promise I could not keep - 8 wonderful weeks of family holiday in France.
I am knitting this kimono cuff to cuff, but instead of a headhole I have two panels, left and right, closure might be a pin or I-cord.
I left the sleeves open because I want to close them only on three points: at the cuff, midway to the shoulder and beneath the shoulder, to provide some stability. The front panels will be closed only at the bottom end to make it feel like a kimono, shrug or wrap as well.

The project orientated itself quite a bit to the look of beautiful 1000 Branches Kimono, another wonderful Jane Thornley pattern. Took till 26 February until the the Kimono got finished. Ends woven in or knotted, beads applied, neckline adjusted. I am happy with it and know I will wear it often, best thing one can say about a project.

Included in the JT interview in September 2011.
