Using the ‘Rose Tea Cosy’ as the base to attach the burger pieces to……winging it as I go - not following a pattern, but I will try to explain as I go.

An ‘Aussie Burger’ contains;
Beef patty - I worked a strip of brown which is sewn around the bottom of the patty to the cosy, lightly stuff as you sew the top of the patty to the cosy - make sure that it stands out like a burger patty. (hard to explain!)
Bacon - Using a brown/red colour, I worked in everything from fdsc out to fdtc to get the different thicknesses of the bacon. For the ‘fat’ I added sc or hdc here and there and the ‘rind’ is sc on top of the ‘fat’ in a tan colour.
Cheese - Using a pale yellow, I worked a solid granny square, then folded it in half and stitched together with a round of sc - (sc, 1ch, sc) in the corner.
Egg - Using white yarn - held double, I worked a fdsc long enough to reach around the whole cosy, next row of sc in back loops only, then a row of sc in front loops only. Stitch to cosy.
Yolk - Using gold, I worked a fdsc of about 14sts. The next row in front loops only dec, sc to last 2sts, dec. Repeat for another row or two, stitch to egg white.
Onion - Using cream yarn, I worked 2fdsc, 2fdhdc, 5fddc, 2fdhdc, 2fdsc, 3ch, 2fdsc, 2fdhdc, 5fddc, 2fdhdc, 2fdsc, enough ch to reach the other opening on the cosy.
I had to make one for each side of the cosy.
BBQ Sauce - Using a dark red yarn, I worked a foundation chain and added ‘drips’ here and there…something like a cluster of puff stitch.
Tomato - Using red yarn, held double, worked in the same way as the onion.
Lettuce - Using a leaf green, I worked a chain long enough to go right around the cosy, sl st to join, then worked 3-5sts in ea st, varing between groups of sc right up to double trebles to get the wavy lettuce look.
and
Beetroot - Using a beetroot pink yarn, held double, I made 4ch, then 3hdc. I worked rows of 3hdc working in back loops only until the piece was long enough to look like a slice of beetroot.

all served on a fresh sesame-seed bun.
I worked the buns last - also a bit hard to explain.
For the top bun, I worked a round of sc directly on to the tea cosy - above the beetroot - then did 2 rounds of hdc, increasing evenly to keep it flat, then worked a round in the back loops only and worked 2 or 3 rounds upwards towards the top of the burger without increasing. I then decreased in towards the centre top of the bun and finished there. The sesame seeds are a stitched chain stitch place randomly over the top of the bun.
For the bottom bun, I did the same starting directly under the hamburger, then did a round in the back loops only and continued without increasing until the bun fitted the space. I worked another round in the back loops only and decreased evenly around until this section met the bottom of the base tea cosy, sc together through both layers.

I added a strip in the brown hamburger colour under the handle to secure it in place with a button.
