Lengths of crochet braid in all of the colours of the rainbow!

Doll with Red Shoes

Legs/body/head;
I made colour changes at the back of the legs and then centre back of the body.
Colour progression from shoes up;
Dark red for the shoes to the end of Rnd 11.
Then 2 rounds each of;
Light red
Dark Orange
Orange
Dark Yellow/Gold
Light Yellow
Dark Green
Light Green
Royal Blue
Light Blue
Purple to end of Rnd 32, then skin colour for the head.
I added a crochet braid in Light Purple around the neck.

Hands/Arms;
Skin colour to half way through Rnd 7, then starting with light green….2 rounds of each rainbow colour (same as for the body) to the end of the arm.
I added a crochet braid in the darker green around each wrist as a cuff.

Hair
I used a ‘blonde’ hair colour and worked a chain long enough to sit around the head.
I then chained in random chains of anything between 18 - 30ch and worked back making 3sch in each ch until you reached the starting length of chain, then sl st into the next ch and work another curl.
I pinned the starting length of chain in place every so often to make sure that I worked shorter curls over the face and longer curls over the shoulders and back.
Use this tutorial as a guide for the curls;

Stitch hair in place before attaching the hat/beanie.

Hat
Using Dark Red, make a chain long enough to sit around the head, sl st to join.
I worked 1 round of hdc, then 2 rounds of (1 front post hdc, 1 back post hdc).
Then work 1 round of each of colour is the same order as the body, finish off at joining of the final round (light purple for this hat).
You’ll be flattening the top end of your hat and stitching across both layers to end up with a square-topped hat.
Add a light purple pom pom to each point, stitch in place an top of starting chain of hair piece.

Doll with Purple Shoes

Legs/body/head;
I made colour changes at the back of the legs and then centre back of the body.

Then work 1 round of each of colour is the same order as the body, finish off at joining of the final round (red for this hat).
You’ll be flattening the top end of your hat and stitching across both layers to end up with a square-topped hat.
Add a red pom pom to each point, stitch in place.

To avoid increase lines on the bottom of the head, I ‘split’ or stagger the increases like this;
Up to Rnd 34: As per pattern.
Rnd 35: 2sc, inc, * (4sc, inc) * repeat from * to * to last 2sts - finish the round with 2sc.
Rnd 36: As per pattern.
Rnd 37: 3sc, inc, * (6sc, inc) * repeat from * to * to last 3sts - finish the round with 3sc.
Rnd 38: As per pattern.
Rnd 39: 4sc, inc, * (8sc, inc) * repeat from * to * to last 4sts - finish the round with 4sc.
Rnd 40 and beyond: As per pattern.
So - the pattern hasn’t been altered at all!
You’ve simply moved the increases on all of the ‘even’ rounds and all ‘odd’ rounds remain the same.
