US crochet terms

I made the standard doll pattern - brown yarn to the end of Rnd 12, start Rnd 13 with the black and make the body in black and the head in orange colour.
l added an extra 5 rounds of sc to the head to allow for squashing into pumpkin shape.
For pumpkin shape I used a large needle and two strands of yarn to make 5 large stitches - pull up as tight as you can to make the head look like a pumpkin.

Top cuff of boots is crochet braid. (see link above for tutorial).

Arms
Brown yarn to half-way through Rnd 7, change to black for the rest of the arm.
To define the gloves, l added a length of chains in brown - stitch in place, then over-sew.

Eyes
(Make 2)
Yellow yarn and 2.5mm hook.
Ch8, sc across, ch1, turn (7sc)
Row 2: dec, sc 3, Dec, ch1, turn (5)
Row 3: dec, sc 1, Dec, ch1, turn (3)
Row 4: sc 3, ch1, turn (3)
Row 5: dec, sc 1, ch1, turn (2)
Row 6: Dec, finish off.

Mouth
Yellow yarn,
Ch 18, working in the back loops of starting ch 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc, 2ch, sl st in next 3sts, ch2, 2dc, 2ch, sl st in next 5sts, ch2, 2dc, 2ch, sl st into last st.
turn work over…work into the other side of starting chain
Ch 1, sl st 2, ch1, sc2, ch1, sl st in next 4, ch1, 3hdc, ch1, sl st to end, finish off.

Stitch eyes and mouth in place.
Outline in black yarn.

Stalk
I started with a chain, joined to form a circle.
l worked rounds in sc…dec a stitch or two per round till you end up with 4sts.
Work a few rounds of 4sc til the stalk is as long as you want it to be, finish off.

Curly tendril
Ch 15, 1 sl st, 3sc in ea st to end.

Shirt
Grey yarn and 3.5mm hook.
Ch11, 1hdc in 4th ch from hook, 1hdc in each st to end,ch2, turn.
Dec at each end of every row til triangle comes to a point, finish off.

Black Collar
Black yarn and 3.5mm hook.
Work a length of crochet braid long enough to go around the neck and down each side of the ‘shirt’. Stitch in place.
