29/12/15 - I FINISHED IT!!! WOO HOO!!!! I struggled to find a cast off that laid flat against the knitting and was similar to the cast on. In the end I slipped two stitches separately, passed one over the other, moved the remaining stitch back to the left hand needle, and repeated this to the end, where I used the tail to bind off. Effectively, the last row was its own cast off. It wasn’t as stretchy as the cast on row, but it is as close to all my cast off criteria I could get. It is much longer than O expected, I think I had 600 stitches, but it is perfect and wraps around me beautifully! I won’t be blocking it due to the large concoction of colours, dye brands, fibres, and hand dyer techniques, but it looks grand as is. Just shy of four years in the making and I am more than happy with the finished item :)
